Ni hao

Posted by: getupnow In: General

On the go today, so just a “weekend update”. Loved, loved, loved the olympics yesterday. Awesome. So in honor of the olympics, ni hao. Tonight should be great. So many events that I want to watch, yet I doubt that I will get to. Oh well.

Woke up to 159 this morning. Seeing that 5 in the middle was a good start for the day.

Normal breakfast. Then attempted to get to the track before the soccer crowds arrived. My sister called though and I have never been one of those “sorry I can’t talk now” types. So I talked to her and then by the time I got to the track, the soccer crowd was there. So on to the next track, the one closer to my house but not my favorite. Soccer folks there too.  Ugh. So then on home to map out a run on www.mapmyrun.com. So I mapped a two mile loop and asked my 9 year old if she wanted to go. She said she did, then my 7 year old daughter (who is a petite little asian princess who weighs 40 pounds). Well, I know my little princess and I know she can run a fast lap but that in distance she can’t keep up. But she cried.   So I let her go. Turns out for the most part she kept up better than my whining 9 year old who declared upon arrival back home that she will “NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!!”. So anyway, a tad over two miles running the flats and down-hills and walking the up-hills. So not like running two miles straight, but yet still a good work out and I really enjoyed it. I haven’t done much neighborhood walking/running. I see the neighborhood walkers/runners though and I was proud to be counted amongst them. Plus, I knew that although my head might look like Bob the Tomato, I was holding my shoulders back and my face was without the characteristic exercise induced grimace of six months ago. Boo Yah!

So, food is planned out for the day. Lunch will be normal. Dinner will be that soup I mentioned yesterday with bread and salad. My nephew’s birthday party is this evening, but I usually don’t have a problem avoiding sweets. My problem was, is and will always be just plain FOOD. Especially if it is cheesey or doughy or a heavenly combination of both. But I digress. So anyway, I have some room in my calories for something else. Maybe some blueberries or something after the party.

I sure do hope bigprof is feeling better. Sending you some well wishes, bigprof. And WHERE is periwinkle?! Yoo hoo, periwinkle…where are you? I hope everyone is having a good weekend. :D

Somehow it’s been days and I’ve missed a stack of your posts. Loved the 2 daughters and unexpected result of the run. Those little 7yos can be determined, can’t they!

I’m loving the Olympics, too. Weightlifting is my favourite.

So glad you’ve got out of your slump and back on track again.

Yes, I have no luck when I go even WALKING with my kids. It’s always a struggle.

I haven’t been able to watch a lot of the olympics, but the events I have seen I have enjoyed.

  • round: Very cool chart, I agree! And I cant wait to see the next pic either
  • round: Yum that recipe looks good - and what's interesting is that yesterday at the store I bought organic sausage and some whole grain pasta and didnt have
  • tiny2b: Cool chart. You asked how I can do it, the running in the cold weather. Um, when I say it's "cold," so far that has been 45 at the worst. The 20s?
