On a bender.

Posted by: getupnow In: General

If food were alcohol, I would be three sheets to the wind. Sloppy as a soup sandwich. Tanked, sloshed and snockered. High as a kite and pissed to the gills.

Went a little off plan last night if you couldn’t tell. Not too torn up about it. I had to cut my calories down to 1,200 for the past week or two to get the pounds moving again. So I was ready to loosen up the belt and cut loose for once. I am ready to dive into the 160’s now. Granted, considering last night’s events, that will not happen too soon! I took a very much deserved detour off of this nose to the grindstone road of mine. So whatever. I will just avoid the scales until I have had a couple of days to recover from it.

Now, it is back to work. I am headed to the track. I downloaded week 2 of C25k. That is not saying that I will do it. I won’t bother to try to decide until after I warm up for about a mile. I do like the idea of less intervals. I think there are 8 of the 60 second jogs on week 1 whereas on week 2 there are 6 90 second jogs. I still can’t believe that I get so worked up about numbers that are counted in SECONDS! Geez Louise. Seconds! But whatever. It is where I am at in this. There was a day when I couldn’t make it to 60 even. So progress is happening, it is just happening slowly.

Added some Lynyrd Skynyrd to my mp3. Got me some Freebird. As I was downloading songs, my selections were totally based on whether it seemed like a good walking song. I am looking forward to warming up to some Freebird! Yeah! What else did I add? Oh, some Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away. Apparently there was something about flying and birds on my brain. I think there could some appeal to that. I mean, when you are sedentary like I was….this movement even if you are still counting your running time in SECONDS…feels very free. I often feel like I am running to escape that old life. After last nights food bender, I better run really fast!

mp3: check. Water bottle: check. Baggy tshirt to cover the gushy-gushy: check. Asthma inhaler to avoid hypochondriacal melt down: check. Looks like I am ready to go.

…And now I am back. Felt inspired and went ahead and did C25k week 2. Must have been the Freebird. Anyway, this was my first day of week 2. And as expected, I did like the six intervals better than the eight shorter ones in week 1. Not sure why I was so hesitant to move on to week 2. Whatever. So anyway, I did a mile warm up then did the podcast and then walked another mile. My right leg tried to revolt towards the end, but then surrendered. I threw in some random jogging there in that last mile too. I think I will do that more often. Just jog a bit after I am done with the podcast so I can have the structure of the podcast which I think I need and then also have some time to just jog however far I feel like jogging while listening to something besides techno. I really like the podcasts and I think that the techno actually has some clear advantages, though. No chance of accidentally singing outloud and scaring my fellow track goers.

I’m loving that attitude of yours! No cry babying about having a little splurge, enjoy and right back on track, atta girl!(I read (?)where, that an occasional splurge will fire up the metabolism. Let me know if you drop a few pounds easily…I might need to splurge, too!) Oh…and wait what’s this??? a little extra what do I call it…’free bird’ jogging, AFTER the run!? This is so much fun to follow along as you do C25K! Sailing right into week 2…somebody’s getting hooked!!! You are one happening chick. You got some awesome tunes happening. :) I say “Sing it Free Bird, sing your happy heart out”

Hey I’m glad you’re enjoing C25k…I can tell you it make me realize that I can really do things if I try. I’ve not been running as much as I should but the point is that I can run and am a runner as far as I’m concerned. And you are too!

Thanks for the comment about my son. I always feel a little twinge of guilt when I leave him hehe.
