Project Shock and Awe

Posted by: getupnow In: General

The thought of having a weight loss ticker staring at me from my blog has about worked me into a PANIC. However, the good news is that my starting weight seems to be lower than I thought. I had weighed in the evening right before making my ticker and it turns out that I am [...]

Alright 170, we’re gonna throw down.

Posted by: getupnow In: General

I do this. I chug along and then stall on the “tens”, meaning I stalled around 180 and then stalled again at 170. Part of it is in my mind. I convince myself that somehow a new set of numbers is like a huge wall.
So, yikes, but I am considering getting a weight ticker. GASP! [...]

Advice from a Butterfly

 Advice from a Butterfly:

Get out of your cocoon
Take yourself lightly
Catch a breeze
We can’t all be monarchs!

They have all of these “advice from” hats at this online puppet shop where I get puppets for the kids. The hats are for humans though. ;-)  Anyway, I thought some of them were cute.
I got ready for my run today and [...]

Archenemy within.

Posted by: getupnow In: General

I am forever in awe of what exactly our minds can do to us without us really even being a willing participant. My almost 9 year old declared that she could not go back to school. This has been an ongoing saga for the past week and a half or so. It really is too [...]

The Next Thing on My List

Posted by: getupnow In: General

If you like a good beach-read as I call them (books that suck you in and don’t make you think too hard, good for lounging on the beach or if no beach is available, the couch will do)…The Next Thing on My List by Jill Smolinski is a good one. I keep trying to MAKE [...]

Let them eat gravy.

Pretty uneventful days make for pretty boring posts. So here goes nothin’…
I have a grocery store treasure today, though. Whole Wheat couscous with milled flax seed and soy.  I am forever struggling with trying to find side dishes that are not expensive and not too time consuming all the while healthy. I think this could be a good, healthy [...]

Alrighty. C25k (w2/d2) today was good, good, good. The 3rd or 4th run was a push but other than that all things were great. Pain is not a significant problem anymore it seems. So I did a one mile warm up and then the podcast. Then chilled out on the hillside with some Freebird watching [...]

Maybe next time she’ll think before she eats…

Posted by: getupnow In: General

I have a sort of dorky sense of humor and I absolutely LOVE song parodies. So this is one I am working on…
It is to Carrie Underwood’s “Think Before He Cheats” and I am calling it “Think Before I Eat”. There is a little switching of point of view since I used both ”I” and “she”,  so sorry [...]

Running jewels.

Posted by: getupnow In: General

I yap constantly about C25k. Today is an “off” day since I went to the track yesterday. So I am getting my fix by yapping about it here. In case anyone is reading this and might consider giving it a go, I wanted to put some great resources and sources of inspiration all here in [...]

On a bender.

Posted by: getupnow In: General

If food were alcohol, I would be three sheets to the wind. Sloppy as a soup sandwich. Tanked, sloshed and snockered. High as a kite and pissed to the gills.
Went a little off plan last night if you couldn’t tell. Not too torn up about it. I had to cut my calories down to 1,200 [...]
