Focus
Today’s the self-report weigh-in-day. I’m at 141 on the digiscale. On the one hand, this is fabulous — exactly on track for my one pound/week mini-goal to reach the larger 12-pounds-by-mid-April goal. On the other hand, I feel like I’m being a Very Good Girl in terms of keeping calorie intake low and getting regular exercise, so how come the others on my team are losing two or three pounds at a time and I’m just the one-pound-wonder?
I know. They’re bigger to start out with. And every body is different, and the point is to be healthy, and the fact is I’m meeting the goals I set for myself.
But part of me would like to see a dramatic drop, and part of me is anxious that if being this “good” only nets me one pound a week that I’ll have a week where I’m not so good or where the scale doesn’t budget despite my ‘goodness’ and then I’ll screw up the team results.
I’m going to try to focus on the good stuff. I weigh 9 pounds less than when I started this project. I am in a regular weight-workout routine that makes me feel good (and I”m going to tell that voice in my head that says it’s a wussy weight routine to just shut the f&*! up). I am eating more healthfully (far less sugar and fat) than I had been eating this winter.
AM Moving (lower body day):
1×25 squats (bw)
1×25 heel raises (5′)
1×25 heel raises with knees bent (5′)
Mid-day moving: 100 jumping jacks, done as 4×25, with leg raises and a set of wall pushups in between those segments. Let’s see if this kind of middle of the day surprise helps me keep my metabolism — and my spirits — up.

B (6:30 AM): Kashi go-lean-crunch with 1/2 c. vanilla yogurt and 1/2 a banana sliced into it. Coffee w/soy milk.
Sn (10:30 AM): cup of coffee w/cream (v. small); 5 M&Ms
L (12 PM): one piece whole wheat bread (110cal), toasted, with a slice of lofat swiss (60cal); 2 Hershey’s kisses; water
Sn (4:30 PM): California roll (6 pieces, with soy sauce); skim milk latte
OK — that was probably more like supper than a snack. I was v, v, v hungry!
S (8 PM): roasted brussels sprouts (6), sm glass red wine
