Had my first visit with the gastric banding team. I met Barb, the nurse, Phil the physician and Mike the dietician. Also met an old buddy working on the desk, but that’s really irrelevent.
This was how things looked when I started this blog on 27th February 2008:
Words cannot adequately express how much I hate this photo. Count those chins, check out that friendly expression, wobble that sac of fat. It’s all so very, very ugly. This was taken on my birthday: November 2007. It was my 5oth and if you needed a reason to have people put down at the age of 50, this would be it.

Is that a magic wand in your hand? I am a big fan of magic wands.
Magic wands rock, don’t they! I think what I’m holding is some decorations from birthday present wrappings. I’ve twisted them up and using them like a wand. I like sparkly stuff. By the end of Christmas or my birthday I’m usually wearing some piece of ribbon or other wrapping in my hair.
It is time to update this progress page! I am chomping at the bit to see how you are doing!
