frogs for fitness

No. I wasn’t kidnapped by the Easter Bunny. In fact, he hardly showed at all. It wasn’t until I had a bit of a whinge about my lack of chocolate that Mr Bunny mysteriously supplied me with a chocolate effigy of himself, which was found in the letterbox two days after Easter. I have some very sweet friends. I shared the chocolate with my family (even though they had plenty of their own!)

I have been keeping on with listening the Jon’s CD, faithfully every night as I fall asleep. I am very pleased to say that I am drinking 2 glasses of water before each meal and extra whenever I’m thirsty. For a very long time (ie: ever since I can remember, and I can remember a long way) I have been averse to drinking. Anything, really. I think I was trained out of it at a very young age by my mum. We’d go shopping and at the end of it she’d ask my sister and me if we’d like an ice cream. I would be thirsty and always ask for a drink. Mum would say no, that I could have a drink of water when I got home. Well, which would you rather have, an ice cream or a drink of water? Der. So I always had an ice cream. Even though I didn’t particularly want one. And I have learned to ignore when I’m thirsty.

After a long search, Beloved found me a gadget to grind my linseeds and I’m having fun with that, grinding away over my breakfast every morning.

The main reason I haven’t been blogging here for the past couple of weeks is that I’ve been working nearly every day. Lots of selling cinema tickets to customers. Lots of noise and people shoving money at me. It’s surprisingly tiring. I was very pleased though that not once did I resort to having junk food for my lunch. Mostly I just brought lunch in, but a couple of times I bought it, and I was very proud that I bought a container with half pasta, half salad in it. No dressing on the salad. No extra bog sauce on the pasta. Very proud of that.

And exercise. Now, bear in mind that this time last year I had done a 40km walk in nearly 40 degree heat. And survived quite nicely aside from some chafing. But since then I’d stacked on another 10kgs or so (oh, just what I needed). Well, I’m somewhat averse to exercise, but it had to be done. Beloved suggested that we go for a walk yesterday. I was a bit dubious, but when we got up in the morning and he said “Well?” (why do I always have to be the one who decides?) I said “yes” and I was happy with that idea.

We probably did 10-12 kms through Churchill park. It was a bit late in the day, so we didn’t see any kangaroos. Only animal we saw was this

he was a bit standoffish and didn’t want to talk to us. I, for my part, did not pat him. I have learned my lesson about patting echidnas.

Anyway, it was a nice walk, although my legs felt pretty awful when I went to bed last night.

Oh, and the frogs? Well, we’re digging ponds for frogs. It’s fun and something I’ve always wanted. I like frogs a lot, though I don’t know very much about them. I wanted to put a picture of our local frogs in today’s blog, but can’t for the life of me figure out what species it is. I’ll have to wait. Maybe I can put my own picture here soon. I’m pretty sure the one I could hear cricking away last night was at our pond. So my bit of exercise over Easter was helping Beloved dig the hole and shovel it out, and yesterday I was helping by lugging rocks about the place.
