Car 54 where are you?

What a day, ladies. I’ll start from the beginning. I woke up to go to the gym this morning, went downstairs and….. MY HUSBAND’S CAR WAS GONE! So I ran upstairs to wake him up! He called the cops, called OnStar (which if you have that capability on your car, pay for the minimal service, it definitely helps out). We realized they went through my car as well and that’s how they got the KEY to his car. While we were downstairs waiting for the cops, 2 ladies from the complex were coming to walk with my downstairs neighbor. One of them said as she was walking out the door to come down our way, a guy ran out of her laundry room!! SCARY!! Anyway, the cops came, reports were filed, and I made pancakes for everyone. I didn’t eat any though. I walked our son to school since I had to wait for the cops to fingerprint my car. It was a 2 mile walk that I got, which is good since i didn’t get to the gym today. The found the car intact a little bit later (thank you OnStar) but ALL my husband’s scuba gear was missing out of the trunk. He had taken it downstairs last night since he had a class tonight. He has all the serial numbers, so he gave those to the cops in case the perps plan on pawning them. It looks like our renter’s insurance will cover that though. So I had an unplanned day off of work.

Now, guess what I did last night. I went run/walking for about an hour! I walked my son down to church for youth and then stayed down at the lake just going back and forth. I ran one whole length, then walked and ran whenever I felt like. Yes, Periwinkle i did try some speed work. Actually, the whole walk to church was speed work because my son and I “raced” each other. We’d run at full speed and then walk when he stopped. But I did a little by myself as well. I felt foolish, but I could feel the difference. Of course, I tried the speed work when I was super tired, but I could still feel the difference.. and I sure didn’t run for a minute at a time. And you know what, I could see the muscles in my quads when my legs were out in front of me. Anyway, I was super tired when I was done and then to have to walk home.. UGH!!! But I did it and carried my son part of the way because he fell and scraped up his leg and elbow. So I really didn’t WANT to walk him to school today, but oh well.

It’s been sort of a nightmare today with so much to do. And it couldn’t have come at the worse time since we are trying to focus on this house. Inspection was yesterday and there is some stuff that needs to be done. Blah…..

UPDATED TONIGHT: Today has been weird (besides all of the above). I have been SO hungry! I don’t know if it’s because I was out of routine by being at home or what. I went over my calories today. 1596k today… YIPES!! And I didn’t even get to the gym today. Although I walked 2 miles this morning, so I guess that counts for something, right? Right?

In other news, the weather is GREAT!! It’s so nice out (which is why I ended up running for an hour last night) Soccer practice was nice today because of it. I hope it stays like this but I’m not going to hold my breath. It’s a teaser. Cross your fingers that the cars stay put tonight!!!

OMG! This makes me want to go check and make sure my doors are locked right now. Maybe this kind of thing will be less likely when you move. Seems like it would be easier in apartment parking lots for people to get by with stuff like that.

Sounds like your hubby will be getting some brand spanking new scuba gear. I guess that’s alright! Glad the car is ok.

Good for you on the running! I love running with people, whether it be my kids or other grown ups. Just anybody!

Git ta packing Eryn. That part o town is git’n a mite rough! :) I hope they catch the thieving bas@&#*$. Lazy no good for nothings!!!

That’s so cool that you raced with your son! That was one of the suggestions for ideas of ways to do speed work, racing with a running partner. And what a handsome little running buddy he is!
The length of time you run and recover doesn’t have to be a minute, that’s just what I picked for myself. Race as long as you feel is right for you and take as much as you need to recover. I’ve only dabbled in this about 4 times and I’m for sure running a little faster and more smoothly during my normal runs. I like it! And the quads! Wow I hear ya! Can barely believe that those are MY legs out there in front pumping away all ‘runnerish’ looking! Where the heck did my kneecap fat go?

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry that you had to go through that. You know you probably had that “fight or flight” surge go through you from adreniline and that will either make you feel like throwing up or eat. It is normal and will pass.
It reminds me of when we lived in the city of Cleveland a few years ago (in an okay neighborhood) and we were robbed while we slept in our beds!!!!!!! I hope that your nerves will calm down soon and that they catch the thieving scumbags who took your things and your pece of mind! You take care and try to have a good weekend.
    Joy
