Discouraging day at the gym

I had a bad day at the gym yesterday. It wasn’t bad in the fact that I got injured or anything like that. I just wasn’t feeling it Not only that, I didn’t make it through my second day of week 4 in the C25k program. I had to stop at the second 5 minute run. For some reason it was really difficult yesterday. I couldn’t find my groove yesterday. Not only that, my legs were still sore from Saturday. Now I’m wondering if I just used that as an excuse. The music for this week is just killing me. It’s too slow! I know the point is to take it slow - it’s not a race, it’s about building endurance - but I need a back beat to push me along. Either that or put the words on the freaking instumental guitar songs so I’m not racking my brain trying to figure out what song it is!!!! Sorry… I got a little off subject there. I’m wondering if I should just do week 4 to my own music. But I don’t want to watch the timer the whole time on the treadmill. It makes it worse I think. Once I stopped my sad attempt at running, I did do some weight machines - abs and legs. Then I left. I could(should) have stayed longer, but I just wasn’t in it.

My food was good yesterday though:

Breakfast: shredded wheat, blueberries, fat free milk, splenda

Lunch: Salad - lettuce, homemade chili pinto beans, fat free cheese, tomatoes, fat free sour cream, salsa; watermelon

Dinner: w/w vanilla smoothie with blueberries and fat free milk; salad with lettuce, tomatoes, green pepper, fat free french dressing

Snacks: grapes, watermelon, banana

All core foods yesterday! YAY!! Just wish I could have done better at the gym. Hopefully I’ll snap back into gear either tonight or tomorrow when I go.

Great food day! Good for you! :D

My issue with the music is that there is one song that sounds completely WHACK! It sounds like there are two songs playing at once. I seriously have wondered if something went wrong when I was downloading it. It is realllllly annoying. I have looked to see if I have a program to use to mix my own mp3’s. I don’t have anything that would make it easy to make a podcast and like you, I don’t want to watch a clock because that will distract me and make it harder. Since I use a track, I am considering just basing the whole thing on laps rather than minutes. Anyway, my guess is that things will click for you next time. The second day is always the worst because you don’t have that excitement thing of hitting a new level. I am sure Wednesday will go better.

I am going to go back tonight. Not sure if I will do the C25k or just turn my ipod on and let loose. Not that all my songs are faster, but a lot of them are harder rock and I can “lose” myself in them.

As for the one song that sounds like 3, I think it actually is. I looked up the playlist and the song I can’t figure out actually has 3 names in it!! But I SWEAR it is a real song with real words that i should know!!

The good thing is that you are getting close to the point where you need the podcasts less. I think it is day three of week five when that 20 minute run is introduced. So before you know it, you won’t really need the interval announcements anyway. And maybe the music for week 5 is better.

I think I am going to go sit and listen to week 4 just to figure this song mystery out!

    Have a fun run!!
