Just another 3fatchicks.com weblog

I’m back at work after an unplanned hiatus during which I “enjoyed” ill health in accordance with prophecy. No. For REAL. About two weekends back….okay, maybe three, I’m not sure…we (DH & I) were up in the
White Mountains (And who named THEM, I’ve got to ask. What’s WHITE about them? Looked green and brown to me…but I digress…) we were hanging with our “crowd” which is a rather eclectic one of folks who have been going up there for quite some time – some for years, others for only a few years, and always a few newbies. When I say eclectic, I mean REALLY eclectic – artists, writers, engineers, a few entertainment types, some educators, a stray medical professional or two, an actual professor of quantum physics (one of MY personal favorites) and a farmer with a guitar. ONE of us is a practitioner of Wicca, and skilled at divining. One might say she is a “divine diviner” because she really is quite elegant in an “Auntie Mame-ish” sort of way. So, anyway, she worked her divination skills on yours truly, and ONE of her predictions involved a bout of ill health. So then I come down, a few weeks later, with a bronchial infection. All because the shark’s tooth landed near my physical symbol or some such. Now the quantum physics prof would say that she simply tapped into the time stream, and that within that time stream, or stream of consciousness, or within that great boiling caldron of “all that is” – whatever works for you – she plucked out MY particular vibration and sort of “went with the flow” or “rode the wave” (which would be more apropos to quantum theory, actually…particles and waves and such). But bottom line is that she said I was going to be sick, and sure enough….and it wasn’t just psychological, or the power of suggestion or anything like that, because I had a real bronchial infection requiring antibiotics and inhalers and ALL that good stuff.

Okay. So I’m back at work, but not quite ready to leap into the fray just yet. Been a little distracted today if you want the truth, and thinking how great a nap would feel. Ideally, I’d take yet another week off, but I’m taking one off when my sis comes in October, and then another one when I go out to see my son in
L.A. early in November. And, of course, I’ve already had a few vacation weeks. Can’t get greedy, here.

Doing a lot of thinking today, although I can’t say how much of it is actually very productive. Some days are just like that – you think, and you think, but it doesn’t get you anywhere. Oh, well. I DID start counting Weight Watcher points – my daughter gave me the formula. Maybe I can jump off this plateau I’ve been sitting on for so long…

Hugs and grins,

E!
