Avoiding Hamlet
OK, I admit it. I cannot read another Hamlet essay. Report cards must be submitted tomorrow. I had 4 left to do. So far, 4 kids have either not bothered to meet the minimum requirements of the essay (hey they only had 4 weeks to work on it!) and three plagiarized. So, all of them have a whopping ZERO! On the flip side, several students scored between 80 - 100. Yes, I do give out 100% when meritted. And often several on one assignment. The truly amazing thing is that this is a grade 12 academic English course. The report cards issued on Wed will go to the universities these kids applied to. Yet, they think nothing of handing in utter crap and telling ME that their future is in my hands. As if their lack of work has no impact what so ever. NOT MY PROBLEM!. And really, do we want people who plagiarize at university?!! Ok, stats show that 65% of undergrads do - but not MY students.
Well, two of the remaining 4 are marked and 2 were emailed to me. My school email server is down. Oops!
Diette wise, things are going well. Yes, in those moments of weakness (ok, stress not weakness) I had returned to 200. But I lost 3 in the past week and a half - just by adding in fruit and veggies when I got hungry. I take a well stocked lunch to work and have started including an after school snack of a piece of fruit and a cube of cheese. Seems to ward off the chocolate bars.
DH’s immigration application was approved on Friday so now we have to start the plans for the move. Target date is 2 weeks before the wedding. Could I have any more stress in my life?? Now I have to apt/condo hunt in whatever spare moments I can find.
But, still living the dream! Of course I really do have to find time to restart my MK business as I will certainly need the extra money in the coming months!
Cheers!
WOW! Congrats on the 3 pounds!!! And your dh’s immigration application!!
Hope Hamlet is finished by now for you. My dau. is in her room putting the finishing touches on a major paper for her right now—it’s on The Sniper by Liam O’somebody, I swear she been working on it at least 15 hrs. total, and it was only a short story!!!! I was telling her about your Hamlet grading woes and she wants to know if you make your students use internal ciatations; probably cause she’s so sick of them.
Hamlet just reminds me of the “Bacon and Eggs for Breakfast” principle of project management. The chicken has an interest but the pig is really committed!
Ok that has nothing to do with anything really. but it makes me crack up.
Plagiarism sucks - altho didn’t someone say originality is the art of concealing your sources well? But yes, not cool!
Glad to hear about your DHs app and that Living the Dream thing is killing me!
