Fighting the Dark Cloud of pudge!!

a journey into the psyche of weight gain

As April ends…

Greetings all.  Life is as hectic as ever.  I can’t even begin to tell you all that has been happening to the people in the wedding party.  OY!  Suffice to say the least of my concerns is the fact that my niece wants to wear a prom dress and everyone else is wearing knee length.  What’s the difference?!!  It is turning into a hodge podge and I am not all that upset about it.  When things are too perfect people get nervous.  I want people to have a good time.

DH was up this weekend.  AND He has a job for when he moves up here!  His company is transferring him.  Immigration has approved him so we are targetting June 19 for the move date.  AND we THINK we found a condo to rent.  It is smallish but fits everything else we need. Close to Mom (as she is 80), all utilities included, parking, even a gym!   (that was a bonus). Allows dogs and even has its own little dog park. AND it was cheaper than our agreed top end price!  YAY!  Now I am just waiting to hear we got it!  Everyone, group prayer!!!!!!!!!!  Hopefully will know tomorrow.

Oh, and it wasn’t food poisoning after all, it was a virusy thing.  Seems a few people had it.  At this point I am right as rain!

As for my waitte, well, not that high on the priority list.  I am eating better - which is all I can ask for!  Next fitting is on Sat.  Can you spell “suck it in!!”???

Cheers!

food poisoning

Well, I was up all night with horrendous stomach problems. I am guessing food poisoning but I had something similar but milder Sunday night.  Fortunately I am seeing my dr today so I will tell her about it.  With SIL dying from colon cancer (which had no symptoms) I am a bit more heightened when I get things.

yet I still did not lose waitte!

Other than that, just been busy.  Appreciate all the comments you have sent me.  Yes, Ann, you did write twice, but that is ok.  Thanks for the support for my BIL, SIL and the kids.  Their daughter is 14 and one of the kids the girls pick on in school - as if she did not have enough going on.  She is all worried that they will know her grade 8 grad dress is from Macys when they are all buying “designer clothes” from Guess.  So I am going to look for a dress to send her from up here so no one knows where she got it!  I also have a pink knock off prada purse which is a bit young looking for me so I am going to send that down for her.  Now THAT Is a designer!

DH is up this weekend so we are going condo/apt hunting.  The gay couple down the hall (who are my “adopted” brothers) split up badly with both accusing the other of violence and a restraining order being put on one.  Don’t know how they are both coming to my wedding!! One is walking me down the aisle! OY!  Naturally both talk to me, so I can’t get away from it.

My life sounds like a sit com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you are all doing well.  I need to get some rest.

Hamlet, bye bye

Hey there. Hectic times as always.  Something is rotten in the state of …

I do make my students use quotes and citations, footnotes or endnotes, in their papers.  They are getting ready for university after all.  Two people have since dropped the course (wisely).  The whiner who does minimal work but seems to think she should get 70s and 80s (eventhough her transcripts show she never got higher than 60% in English), came crying insisting that she did not plagiarize.  How odd that a lazy person who never uses flowery language would refer to Claudius as a “consummate politician” - just like sparknotes or wherever I found that and two other turns of phrases.  She then told me she was sick and going home.

The student who quickly wrote something without meeting the minimum page requirements or submitting a bibliography (and got zero for not meeting the minimum requirements) simply told me he learned his lesson and is working very hard on the next assignment.  Winning attitude.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he got an A at the end of the course.

My sister-in-law has decided to refuse any more chemo.  It makes her feel very ill and with a prognosis of weeks to live she would rather not be in pain for them.  Hospice care is meeting with her today.  Naturally her husband is beside himself in grief. Personally, I respect her decision (as I am sure he does).  I keep hoping that as chemo kills good cells as well as bad ones that her good ones will triumph.  Perhaps far fetched, but hope never hurt anyone - did it?

Waitte is staying the same.  Not too bad noting this is a very stressful week.  My goal is to lose one a week.  Not lofty, but probably attainable.  I gave up the dream of a svelte bride  a few weeks ago.   I am what and who I am.

Still living the dream!

Avoiding Hamlet

OK, I admit it.  I cannot read another Hamlet essay.  Report cards must be submitted tomorrow.  I had 4 left to do.  So far, 4 kids have either not bothered to meet the minimum requirements of the essay (hey they only had 4 weeks to work on it!) and three plagiarized.  So, all of them have a whopping ZERO!  On the flip side, several students scored between 80 - 100.  Yes, I do give out 100% when meritted.  And often several on one assignment.  The truly amazing thing is that this is a grade 12 academic English course.  The report cards issued on Wed will go to the universities these kids applied to.  Yet, they think nothing of handing in utter crap and telling ME that their future is in my hands.  As if their lack of work has no impact what so ever.  NOT MY PROBLEM!.  And really, do we want people who plagiarize at university?!!  Ok, stats show that 65% of undergrads do  - but not MY students.

Well, two of the remaining 4 are marked and 2 were emailed to me.  My school email server is down.  Oops!

Diette wise, things are going well.  Yes, in those moments of weakness (ok, stress not weakness) I had returned to 200.  But I lost 3 in the past week and a half - just by adding in fruit and veggies when I got hungry.  I take a well stocked lunch to work and have started including an after school snack of a piece of fruit and a cube of cheese.  Seems to ward off the chocolate bars.

DH’s immigration application was approved on Friday so now we have to start the plans for the move.  Target date is 2 weeks before the wedding.  Could I have any more stress in my life??  Now I have to apt/condo hunt in whatever spare moments I can find.

But, still living the dream!  Of course I really do have to find time to restart my MK business as I will certainly need the extra money in the coming months!

Cheers!

Still crazy….

Sorry I haven’t been online lately.  Too much work.  Still living the dream though!  TJ, come back to MK!!!! You can be on my team!  We’ll have a blast at Seminar!

I have been eating well.  Breakfast is sliced fruit, some trail mix and low fat yogurt.  (OK, and a latte!).  Lunch is salad and tuna, or cheese, and fruit.  I have a snack  after my last class of an apple and a piece of cheese, and then dinner which is pretty healthy too.  At this point I am working on new eating habits. After all, if I keep putting “crap” into my body, at my age, I think it will start breaking down!  (like my mind!!!!!)

Not that the waitte is going down in leaps and bounds.  But I think I am doing myself some good.

Other than that, working working, working.

Ann, did you hear back about your GMAT yet?  JayJay, sure you don’t want to live the dream and join my MK team?

I am certainly glad to see the sun hasn’t totally forgot us here in Toronto!

Keep up the great work, y’all!

Cheers!

Faith

Well, I am trying the positive talk but the waitte is not moving!! I had postponed my dress fitting in the hopes of losing waitte and gained 5.  No doubt someone is testing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than that, my SIL saw her NY specialist who is not as fast to write her off.  Nice to know.  She is still on agressive chemo.  Granted she may still only have weeks to live, but then again, wasn’t that always the case?  She has managed to last 1.5 years so far.

UP to my eyeballs with marking.  My online course ends tomorrow - I got my marks in this evening.  I now have 3 pieces of work to mark for my night school class, AND I need to start on my school work for the course I am taking.  I AM NUTS, aren’t I??!!!  next year I am not taking on as much.  Better to do the MK classes.  At least they are upbeat and fun!

Other than that, sorry I haven’t been as attentive as I should be.  But, I am still living the dream!!

Cheers!
