Fighting the Dark Cloud of pudge!!

a journey into the psyche of weight gain

I think I can see it!!

A quick note before I rush off to teach night school.  Scale showed 197.5 this morning so I am back in the game.  AND I THINK I can see some waist!!  I haven’t seen it for a while, but I am pretty sure it wasn’t my hips growing out of proportion!  Obviously those ab exercises are starting to pay off!  Gotta love hydraulic machines!

Other than that, a stressful week.  Job postings have come out - a couple for next semester, a whack of first round department headships for next Sept.  (we have a huge board so there are 5 rounds of those - this was round 1).  I saw a couple of jobs worth applying for.  And I have to get my resume ready for the next round of potential VP considerations.  Add to that…I am being evaluated tomorrow.

Pass chocolate???

Cheers!

Twice in one day!

Hey, remember this.  It is not often someone posts TWICE IN ONE DAY!

I did meet Mom for dinner at the pub.  I had a hamburger (no bun due to wheat allergy) and a side salad. Interestingly enough the side salad (there was a choice) I chose was spinach and strawberries.  It had a nice vinegarette.   I was still hungry when I left the table.  I ate the mint the waitress gave us with the bill!!!

I did have the remaining Hershey’s kisses (at least they were the small ones and not those ‘meal in themselves” huge ones they sometimes have <a sigh and a memory!>).  Then I worked out.  Not counting the 15 minute walk to the pub, I did 30 minutes on the recumbent bike and  arm and abs weight lifting.

Now I have a couple of jobs I want to apply for.  That should round off the evening.

Ciao!

shuffling along

Wow!  Thanks for all the comments to my blog!

Not much to report today.  I was up that pound I lost, but it was a chocolate day yesterday.  I am hoping it was a temporary pound without plans for permanent residency.

Regina (4 year old) was actually discharged from the hospital today!  I stopped by to visit and she was gone.  After only5 days!  I was told that the stay could range from 5 days to 2 weeks with one week being the norm, so she is above normal!!  I will have to call her Mom for an update.  We have an amazing children’s hospital here in Toronto. (and apparently we are a brain surgery capital - not that you see this on the tourism posters!!)

Mom is up and about - she headed over to the bank and asked me to join her for dinner.  There is an Irish pub there called Pogue Mahone.  Apparently that is Irish slang for “Kiss my Ass!”  How can anyone refuse to eat at a place like that?!!  The food is quite good - although we have a neighbourhood pub in the other direction that seems to have a French chef because the food is amazing and presented really well.  But enough food talk!

I was planning to work out tonight so will be able to subtract the 15 minute walk to the pub from my schedule!  Mom wants to take a cab home - not that I can blame her noting her breathing and her shopping habits!

Cheers!

197.5 AGAIN!

Well it had to happen.  On the one hand, I am down in wayyyt but on the other hand, I am at the ever present 197.5!

First day of the diette, was hindered by a gift of toblerone.  I will work harder tomorrow.  Stress, as always, was high.  I am guessing that all the most behaviourally challenged kids have parents who booted them out to school as soon as we were back.  They were all present…not in class, of course, just wandering the halls causing trouble.

Feels like I never left!

On track again!

Thanks for all of the good wishes for Regina (little girl who had open heart surgery).  I saw her yesterday.  They had her up and walking a few steps.  She seems to be doing really well.

Glad you seem to like the dress.  I am not sure if that neckline will be itchy, but then again, I am not sure I will even find this dress.   Still, if not, I can get something similar made.  I am planning on looking in March (for a July wedding) in the hopes I will lose some more wayyyt (spam avoidance spelling).  What I really like about the dress (aside from it being a show stopper) is that I can probably cut it down around knee level and wear it as a sun dress with a blazer for work.  Always practical.  The last time I stood in a wedding I made sure the dress could be worn again.  It had a fancy jacket but was just a really nice sheath dress once I had it cut down!

Today I am back to 198.5 - the wayyyt I was after I lost one pound from the test drive.  Must admit the test drive w as non-existent this week.  BUUUTTT, tomorrow I start the real McCoy.  Pressure is on!

The Mary Kay ladies threw a shower for me today.  I have been a “fringe” consultant for 10 years now.  Personally, I was amazed that anyone had remembered me noting my absence from the scene for  at least a year.  Still five women were there (three cancelled at the last minute due to family things) and I got some great gifts.  People are so kind and generous.  And Yes, I have written my thank you cards so will mail them in the morning.

Meanwhile, a friend of mine became a Weekenders consultant so I am inviting people to the party I am having for her on Jan 20.  If you are in the Toronto area….

Have a great night

Found the saddle!

Well, after a particularly angry TOM, I think I have found the saddle again, and am ready to get back on.  Only gained .5 pounds (well one and then lost 1/2) during this crazy chocolate blitz. And yes, Virginia, I did bite the head off a Lindt Reindeer!  AND it was very satisifying!

Since I last wrote, my Maid of Honour’s daughter (4 years old) had open heart surgery. She came through it yesterday better than expected, so I will head over to the hospital again today (I waited with Diana and her soon to be divorced hubby<you can imagine why I was needed!>) for a brief visit.

Round, I go back to school on Monday so my vacation time ends then.  I know for most it is over, but we teachers really need this break in order not to kill the students (I am sure after two weeks of the kids at home, people understand!).

Ann, of course you will see photos.  I am trying to paste photos of the dress I have recently set my heart on, but my photos do not take.  What is the secret to that??    (I hope this link works!) www.enmanuelcouture.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=4&pos=10

Where did the track go????

Happy New Year!  So far my New Year has been filled with….food!  OK, not a great start.  But I am enjoying it.  Combine TOM, with no time to exercise (getting wedding arrangements done) and ample food.  You can imagine.

Back to test driving today- somewhat.  We have the food tasting at noon.

How are you all doing??

Cheers

Shayna
