Fighting the Dark Cloud of pudge!!

a journey into the psyche of weight gain

Enquiring Minds..

Thank you all so much for your good wishes.  Last night I FINALLY got my engagement ring!   In my unbiased opinion, it is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen!!  Well, I did not get to 190 for the wedding later today.  In fact, all the stress caused me to go the other way!  Yesterday I was 199!!  Today I weighed myself in the solarium (where the scale is kept) instead of my room and weighed 197.5.  Obviously I weigh less there so there I will continue to weigh myself.  (still not as good as that scale on carpeting in CT which knocked off 10 pounds!!)

Oh, one of my neighbours is a florist and when learning of my wedding sent me a bouquet, Paul a boutinnere (spelling?), and a small corsage for Mom.  As Paul’s Mom is also here we are going to give it to her to wear.  So, alas, my beautiful fake bouquet is not going to be used after all!  Add to that, my incredibly generous co-workers surprised me with a dessert social an, along with gag gifts, gave us over $200 which nicely pays for the civil service!

OK, time to get ready!!

Have a great day

with gusto!

OK, I am back to fight again!  The monkey wrench was disheartening.  BUT, about a month ago I was determined not to see 200 on the scale again, and I have more or less managed to do that…hovering between 197.5 and 198.5 on the scale.

I am not sure what part of my brain wants to sabotage  me, but it is there and must be overcome- even if I can only hold it back in small increments (pretty impressive word for 6:40am, isn’t it?!!).  I realize that 190 by the wedding on Friday is not an option any longer, but rather than sit and mope, I am setting a new goal to get below 195.  No time line, just a number.  It worked last time.

On a bright note, with the panty girdle, the skirt for the wedding fit - snug but presentable.  At least I do not have to go out and buy something.  (just a reminder this is our civil ceremony to start the immigration paperwork- the bigger<but not HUGE> wedding is next July.  By then I certainly hope I am below 190!!)

Happy Monday!

Monkey wrench

Is there such a thing as a monkey wrench?  I mean is there a wrench called that?  Or does it mean that something just monkeyed with a wrench?  Maybe one day I will bother to look it up.

Well, I have had a monkey wrench (whatever that REALLY means) tossed into my plans.  On Sat I had a call from England telling me my Uncle had died.  Sunday I flew to Manchester (landing at5:30am) and took a train to Newcastle.  In the midst of the jetlag I had to walk my cousins through the preparations ( I only knew what to do because of Dad dying in Jan- and it may very well be different in North America), deal with family feuds and provide an ear for emotional outbursts.  Imagine how it is that I did not lose weight.  Not that I begrudge any of it, mind you.  My Dad always said that all of the family loved us because we lived in Canada!!  No doubt if we lived in the UK we would be in the thick of the arguments and spats.  I did get the chance to see cousins I have not seen in a decade or two!  AND, after all of the sadness, EVERYONE wants to come to my family wedding next July.

But, I have the wedding next week to contend with.  Obviously the 190 goal has been postponed.  (never say you failed, simply change the timeline as I was taught when I was an active Mary Kay consultant).  I am still exhausted, but once I am fully rested, I will continue on the path of weightloss and hope, and pray, that I can lose the weight to make that outfit look presentable.  If not, Wed I have to get something mighty quick!!  Guess I should try the skirt on before making the final decision!!

Once I solve the monkey wrench must I find the definition of Hammer toes??!

Cheers

M&Ms have left the building!

OK, I have concluded that I cannot control myself around M&Ms.  Lesson learned.  I have been back on the hydroxycut diet I mentioned in a previous posting and am now down to 197.5!!! Of course, I have not been all that good so far today, but the day is young and I can exercise!

My civil wedding is on Sept 28 and I am gunning for 190 lbs.  Ok, 190.5 will also work.  Can I do it????

M&Ms came a knockin’

Well, maybe it was PMS, or maybe it was just whatever it is that makes me eat….but…  well, the title says it all.  When I was at the store there was a promotion for those pink M&Ms to support breast cancer research.  I can’t recall the size of the bag, but certainly larger than a single serving….much larger.  I bought one peanut and one plain.  And I ate them.  They were mocking me!!!!  At first the scale stayed the same.  Then it jumped!  I obviously need to return to CT!!!

So I am back to hydroycut  today, but still weak in the knees.  It happens……

Cheers

I may have found something here….

OK, I am not 100% sure, but I may have found a way for me to lose weight.  As you may (or may not) know it is almost impossible for me to lose weight using diets.  BUT I have found that if I take hydroxycut for a few days I do lose a few pounds.  Then I stop for a few days because it is not as effective, and then start again and lose a couple of pounds. Largely this works because I have a hydroxycut pill in the morning, and another at lunch.  No breakfast and if I am really hungry I have some fruit or veggies at lunch.   Then I eat anything I damn well please from dinner (5ish) until about 7:00- 7:30pm.

Doing this has kept me below 200 pounds for a couple of weeks.  A miracle in my world! (with the exception of that weekend in CT <Manchester CT, Witchy poo!> where the scale was off and showed me under 190!! How I miss THAT scale!)

Now, who exactly was it that concluded that breakfast was the most important meal of the day?  Was it an egg marketing board executive somewhere???

Other than that remarkable discovery I had a pretty uneventful week for the first week back at school.  Of course I did read the riot act in my grade 10 English class, but now those officially designated behavioural problem kids are behaving  beautifully!

Ahhhh..a well earned weekend.  My beloved Havanese dog, Bree, and I will be walking in the Parkinson Disease Superwalk on Sunday.  It is not too late to sponsor us!!  I have the link on my page…look to the right…a bit lower..  My Dad from complications from Parkinsons in Jan, so I am doing this for him.  I am just $200 from my goal, so think about it!! You get a tax receipt!

Cheers

CT scales

HI there!  Back from my weekend in CT (yes, Conneticut!). While there I used the hotel gym- not a great gym.  I had never seen a treadmill that did not move!!  It simply scrolled across the LCD “No speed signal”.  So, I had to use that cross country machine etc.  Must admit that I love having a fan blow on me when I work out so I don’t get too uncomfortable..but I digress from the most important machine of all.  The gym scale.  I jumped on it wearing my running shoes and logged a 10 pound weight loss from my scale in Toronto the day before.  Miraculous!!!  Well, the CT scale was on carpeting!! So, it was not at all accurate (in fact I somehow regained the 10 pounds when I returned to Toronto!) but it looked so good while it lasted! I wanted to take the scale home but I only had a small suitcase.  Or, maybe pounds weigh differently in the US than in Canada!??!!!

Thanks for the blog comments.  I looked and hydroxycut does not seem to contain effederine- but it may be there under another name.  I think what it does contain is enough caffeine to make a workhorse hyper!!!

Hope that helps…or have I simply inspired you all to move to CT????!!

Cheers
