Wow, I think we're living the same life. I'm allowing myself to loosen up a bit and I'm scared but I know that if I keep trying to be perfect that I will fail, at least for now. And I have lost just under 50 pounds so I have some of the same concerns that you do. We will get through this, let's help each other out.

I can totally relate to you on this. My motivation usually comes from the clothes I am able to fit into when I lose weight. My slip up days usually happen over the weekend.. and then mondays are the worse! I try to surround myself with people that will keep me on track. My fiancee knows that I have very little will power when it comes to food.. so now he is constantly behind me watching what I eat .. and hiding the snacks from me.

I have always wanted to visit New England during the fall, I will get there someday. But I'm w/you, winter is for the birds. If we have another winter like last year (record snowfall, 16 snow days from school) I will go crazy!

Good for you for realizing this! This is actually a great truth and very helpful. Focusing on the negative just leads us to beating ourselves up and failing. Focusing on the good things we do leads us to success. Duh, huh? Yea for you! So even if you only walked or exercised one day out of two, that is way better than nothing. And I'll bet you do way better than that. Congrats on your good habits and catching that stinking thinking that will lead you down the road to ruin.

Do it now. Funny you should write this. Check out my post for yesterday (Who am I?) I've finally realized I've got to *be* the person I see myself as (and look like her) rather than just sitting around waiting for it to magically happen when... (whatever).

Maybe not so dumb after all. I am a big re-gainer (gain it all back and more) and once realized if I would stop and maintain for a little while along the way, I could re-set my inner *what I should weigh* thingie and then start losing again.

As for losing more, usually either decreasing food a little or increasing exercise a little will do it. On the plan I'm on (Flat Belly), sometimes people re-do the four day *jump start* to get off a plateau. Do you do any weight training or other exercise that builds muscle? Believe me, that is the best way, because muscle burns more fat even while you sleep.

Just lowering calories lowers your metabolism and makes it increasingly harder to lose weight (or even maintain). Also, some people are eating too few calories to lose weight. That happens to me. If I hit a plateau I usually have to *increase* my calories so my body will realize we are not starving and it can let go of some pounds.

In any case, congrats on the maintaining and recognizing it and being ready to go again. You sure sound like a winner here!

I know what you mean- my head says do these things now, but emotionally, I really want to wait until I'm 'perfect'. I know it's not healthy, but at the same time, it's only a year of my life... I don't know the answer. K

it's funny how the light bulb just goes off one day...i believe too that not only eating the same foods makes you maintain, but so does lack of exercise. i truely believe that after a while of focusing so much on foods, that our bodies eventually just adapts to all different types of foods and different exercise routines are required for results...just my opinion. whatever you decide to do, i'm glad to hear that you realize that you need to change something to shed some more lbs. i wish you the best of luck with your goals and can't wait to hear of the results!

I weigh myself whenever I feel like I am in a good enough mood to handle even the worst number. Generally, I keep some distance inbetween weigh ins. I have found that when I get a new exercise plan and retain water as well as days where I have eaten a lot overall (even healthy food) .. getting on the scale really puts me in a mood. Usually it IS just a fluctuation... So its unfair, because I beat myself up over it.... It used to rule my life.. I have several post on my sadistic scale. I hate it, but I used to be addicted to it. I can now weigh myself once a week or so, and be fine. I think its the healthiest way to go about it :)
Good Luck ~!~ And I hope you dont have be a slave to it any longer!!
