Extra skin

I was watching Dr. Phil today because his show was about weight loss.  There was a woman on there who had lost a significant amount of weight and had a ton of extra skin leftover.  This is one of my biggest fears; that I will lose the weight but still look frumpy because I have saggy skin.  She lost hers much more quickly than I will lose mine because she had gastric bypass but I would have to think that even losing weight slowly has limits.  How much can skin stretch?

Have any of you lost a lot of weight (like 100 pounds or more) and had your skin snap back?  My highest weight ever was 295 (I’m 5′7″) and I’m guessing I would like to end up about 150.  I have been overweight for nearly all of my life (I’m 33) and had 2 babies so my skin has been stretched for sure.  Just curious.

Hi - back in 1999 I had my daughter. I’m 5′8″ and at the time I got pregnant I weighed around 145-150. By the time I gave birth in December - I weighed 236 lbs. No, I’m not kidding! I gained 85 to 90 lbs in 9 months. Much of it came off gradually over the next year but I got fed up at 170 and by the summer of 2002 I was 150 - 155 again through a combination or roller skating, treadmill and Mari Winsor Pilates. It was the 20 minute pilates video that was the key to toning all over - but I did 45 minutes per day of cardio.
Fast forward to today and that’s where I am now - a squishy 165 again (I moved and took 3 years off work)and I really want to drop back into an 8 again & 155 lbs. I don’t really have the room in this house for pilates - but I’m trying to get motivated. Anyway - to answer your question - I don’t have any loose skin or stretch marks. Never did. But I’ve always worked out when I’ve dieted - if you just cut calories you get flabby skin. Hope this helps! DeeH
