a great salad

I actually went out to lunch with friends on Monday - a habit I have to really control when trying to diet. Had a wonderful salad at a new restaurant in my hometown of Frederick, Maryland. Place called Nola’s, which is kind of a coffehouse/bistro with a bar. Large serving with roasted tomatoes and red peppers, artichoke hearts, squash and a vinegarette. Also has bowl of potato corn bisque. Took most of salad home for lunch next day. Yesterday was 189.6. A good start. Tomorrow is my Thursday linedance night, so I’ll be sweating off those pounds!

Here we go again

The start of a new year, the start of a new diet. To be truthful, I haven’t done this in a couple years. I’d gotten to a point in my life where I wasn’t going to let numbers on a scale rule my life. I now don’t even get on the scale at my doctor’s office very often - I just tell them that my weight doesn’t have anything to do with the reason I’m visiting that day if they give me any trouble. But I feel now that my thyroid problem seems to have settled down that I can do something about my weight. Also I’m not getting any younger, which seems to be a mantra I hear a lot. So I’ve started out at 296 lbs - gasp! to try to eat better and exercise more.
